School Visits: Grade-Level/Subject Tours for K – 12th Grade

The American Freedom Museum offers a grade specific, curriculum connected experience for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade that will help engage and challenge students to have a greater awareness and understanding of our rich American heritage. Teachers can find their area of study in action throughout history. They will find real life application of the skills their students are learning from the basics to higher level academics in the following areas:

  • reading, writing and literature
  • math and science
  • history and geography
  • psychology and sociology
  • speech and debate
  • Spanish
  • art and athletics

* All tours are grade-level appropriate and meet TEKS requirements. When you reserve your tour, please be sure to specify your grade level and tour choice. All tours are approximately 1 ½ hours long and have a maximum capacity of 40 students.

** All tours can be customized to correspond with the topic and subject matter pertaining to your specific class.

Whether it is a “Night At The Museum” or a “Day At The Museum”, The American Freedom Museum is a one-of-a-kind location and a perfect setting for your next special event. The Museum is availble for private functions and can help you in setting up your event. The Museum has hosted many private functions such as:

  • receptions
  • meetings
  • office parties
  • social gatherings
  • corporate events
  • family reunions
  • an evevning with friends
  • birthday parties

Whatever your needs are we can help you host an inspiring event. For information on making a reservation for your event, please contact Museum Director, Jan Hommel, at 903-894-5252, or “click here” to request a reservation and we will contact you to answer your questions. Our rental fees include the exclusive use of the Museum lobby, admission to tour the Museum, parking and basic housekeeping. Additional costs include the use of tables and chairs and catering.

The American Freedom Museum will be closed to the public on Wednesday, July 19th, and Saturday, July 22nd, for the replacement of the air-conditioning system. The Museum will re-open to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26th, and will resume its regular public hours of Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m..
